BARDO BLANKET (Touch Liberation Mandala Blanket)

In conjunction with the Ullambana celebrations, TDSPJ will be promoting Bardo Blanket for sponsorship at RM200.00 only per piece. The Bardo Blanket is one of the means to achieve Liberation at time of one’s death. It is known in Tibetan Buddhism as “Tagdrol”, which is one of the five methods, that lead to liberation without serious meditation or practice. The blanket is placed over the deceased person’s body after death and be buried or cremated with the body in order to help alleviate sufferings during the bardo intermediate period, especially the fear of the dying process. The consciousness will be at peace in the dying process.

The customised design of the Blanket contains numerous Mantras and depictions of Bodhisattvas that come into contact with the vital points of the deceased person’s body. The deceased face will then be covered over with the depiction of Buddha Amitabha immediately just before the sealing of the coffin. This is the significance of Touch Liberation for the deceased. The original design of the Blanket was blessed by V.V. Thrangu Rinpoche and other highly esteemed Rinpoches of the Kagyu lineage. Personal possession of a Bardo Blanket is unique only to Vajrayana Buddhism. In Tibet, they said “You come with nothing, you go with a Bardo Blanket”.

The Blanket can be placed next to a very sick person at home or hospital to help alleviate suffering and to assist recovery by minimising the negative energies.

One can sponsor the Blanket to be kept at home in a clean place, preferably in the cupboard of your altar, to increase the positive energies in the home environment.

For general information, TDSPJ’s Bardo Blanket is framed and erected at the open place for sky burial at the hills of Qinhai, Tibet.
